Older drivers may be liable to take new tests or risk losing their license.

It could be mandatory for older drivers to do eye tests to check if they’re still suitable to drive, this would be part of a new road safety strategy .

Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, of the Commons Transport Select Committee said she is “open to considering” mandatory eye tests for mature drivers.

This is to prevent future accidents to occur after road accidents are happening due to poor eyesight, according to a coroner’s report.

Making the eye tests mandatory and ensuring that the drivers  are absolutely allowed to be behind the wheel will help prevent a lot of easily avoidable accidents.
